[Bug 561821] Re: Huawei E1550 / E620 unable to connect

2010-04-12 Thread Niclas L
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: modemmanager

When I plug in my Huawei E1550 (labeled E1550, but reported as E620 by lsusb)
Lucid detects it correctly and NM-applet gives me the choice to set up a new
connection.
When I later try to connect I immediately get a Disconnected notification.

  Syslog reports:
  modem-manager: Modem /org/freedesktop/ModemManager/Modems/0: state changed
(registered - connecting)
modem-manager: Got failure code 3: No carrier
  modem-manager: Modem /org/freedesktop/ModemManager/Modems/0: state changed
(connecting - registered)

The modem indicates that it have found 3G reception and the modem worked
  fine under jaunty.

Bug #401655 suggests that the package usb-modeswitch should be installed
to get the modem working, but I get the same result with that package as
  I get without.

Lucid detects it correctly and NM-applet gives me the choice to set up a new

- When I later try to connect I immediately get a Disconnected notification.
+ Sometimes the modem successfully connects to the internet, but far too often
I get a immediate Disconnected notification.
+ The first connection attempt seems to be a success most of the times, but not
always.
+ The failure rate seems to be highest when I try to connect for the second
time after I have been previously connected.
+ If the modem starts to fail in it's connection attempts, there isn't anything
I can do to get it to work again except restarting the system and hope for the
best.
