But it sill fails to expand if it changes to new and wider items while
it is open. Maybe we should open a new report about that.

I'm pretty sure networks are no longer listed like that in newer Ubuntu
releases. But cant confirm myself as I only have wireless connections.

Alan can you confirm if this is still an issue?

Turns out I had one left over port in my router. Test this and seems in
12.10 the applet expands to fix long names.
