Hi Thomas, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 563258 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Could you please try booting adding the paramenter libata.force=noncq? If it works, you'll have to update the bios, after that it should work fine without that parameter. That is the solution! It would be helpful if you could produce a back trace, when the system hangs press 'Alt+SysRq+1' followed by 'Alt+SysRq+t' as explained in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash That should print a trace to the terminal and hopefully also to /var/log/kern.log i tried this. But there was no logging on the screen and no logging to /var/log/kern.log. aspire 1810T without any options and it all worked fine. But since the

These messages are repeated for 4 times every 30 seconds, then in 9 of
10 cases the systems hangs or starts only the console in maintenance
mode.
If I set the option acpi=off in grub the system starts. But i get the
message:

The problem is now that the battery is not displayed and the energy
saving options for battery mode are not available.
I have the same problem in ubuntu 9.04.
