[Bug 570060] Re: nautilus actions %M doesn't work

2012-03-14 Thread Kevin
What a great shame that, almost two years down the line, Ubuntu 10.04LTS
installs Nautilus Actions Configuration Tool version 2.30.2 with no
option to install a later version in Synaptic Package Manager. I have
spent two evenings trying to use the %M variable - learning from
scratch, eventually finding and installing a script which shows the the
parameters accepted by NACT, and then discovering this bug. I think it's
disgraceful that Ubuntu of this vintage allows the installation of
broken software.

BTW the thread here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9607212
ends with a link to instructions on how to install Nautilus Actions
Configuration Tool v2.30.3 on Ubuntu 10.04 - but the link is broken. If anybody
knows how to do this it would be useful to post it here.

[Bug 570060] Re: nautilus actions %M doesn't work

2012-03-14 Thread Kevin
Follow up to my previous post - Instructions to install v2.30.3

First, remove the installed version:
Open Synaptic Package Manager and enter nautilus actions in the search box.
On my screen the top entry was for nautilus, the second for nautilus-actions
2.30.2-0ubuntu1. Right-click this and select Mark for removal. (Don't select
Mark for complete removal or you will lose any actions you have written
and/or installed.) Click Apply.

Then install the new version:
Paste the following link into your browser to
https://launchpad.net/~ferramroberto/+archive/linuxfreedomlucid/+build/1787278/+files/nautilus-actions_2.30.3-1%7Elffl%7Elucid%7Eppa_i386.deb
This will hopefully download the file
nautilus-actions_2.30.3-1~lffl~lucid~ppa_i386.deb. Save it to your desktop
(or wherever) and just double-click it when it's finished downloading. Ignore
the message about the official version that's available through the Ubuntu
channel.

[Bug 570060] Re: nautilus actions %M doesn't work

2010-09-19 Thread Sense Hofstede
We might see the latest version of this package in either one of those
releases, but that depends on the people responsible for maintaining the
packages of Nautilus Actions in Debian and, to a lesser extent, Ubuntu.
I cannot say anything cerrtain about it.

[Bug 570060] Re: nautilus actions %M doesn't work

2010-09-18 Thread Sense Hofstede
The changes you saw to the bug statuses were done by Launchpad to
reflect the status and importance of this bug upstream, in the bug
tracker of the Nautilus Actions developers. The bug was marked as Medium
and Fix Released there.

The reason why the bug for Ubuntu is not marked as Fix Released yet is
because this bug was fixed in Nautilus Actions 2.30.3, whereas Ubuntu
Maverick provides 2.30.2-1, an older release.

Thank you very much Sense Hofstede, that makes sense (no pun intended) of a
fairly complicated process. So does this mean that It will never work in 10.04
or 10.10?

So where is the Fix?

Now we get:

What does that mean, what's going on?
