Never mind. I found out that my homedir is mounted on an NFS volume with 'noexec' flag. Removed that and now it seems to work. It works if I use a non-LDAP user, but not with a user from LDAP server. As a matter of fact, it seems to be some bug in some other lib regarding pam/ldap. Dropbox also refuses to run properly with an LDAP user, but works flawlessly with a local only user, on the same machine with the same ldap config.
