Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-common

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Linux 2.6.32-22-generic #33-Ubuntu

Nvidia driver version: 195.36.15

When installing Lucid, I choose to use proprietary Nvidia drivers.

After rebooting, I got an error message that X server was not configured
properly and the PC could run only on low resolution.

The workaround is:

1) Disable propriety drivers

2) Edit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and add this to the end:

blacklist vga16fb
blacklist nouveau
blacklist rivafb
blacklist nvidiafb
blacklist rivatv

3) Reboot

4) Enable proprietary drivers and run

sudo nvidia-xconfig

TWICE (the first time you ger an error).

5) Reboot.

** Affects: nvidia-common (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
