Also, having Fixed instead of Threshold forces the g-p-m icon in the
notification-area to use the scalable image instead of the 24x24 like it
should apparently.

2006-08-31 Thread Daniel Holbach
Thanks for your bug report. The change was introduced with this patch:

hicolor-icon-theme (0.9-0ubuntu4) dapper; urgency=low
  * debian/patches/01_dont_scale_22x22_apps_icons_for_hicolor.patch:
- define 22x22/apps as Fixed instead of Threshold so the panel doesn't
  pick that variant

And why shouldn't the panel pick that variant?

Anyway I added some more comments on gnome bugzilla, please check there
again.

[Bug 58287] Re: [22x22/apps] Type should be Threshold

2006-08-31 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The description of the issue which leaded to that change:

lapo I think there is a problem with gnome-panel menu icons, check
soundjuicer and banshee icons, I think it take the 22x22 and scale it up to
24x24, but at least sj provide a 24x24 icon
...
lapo seb128, cause those icons looks blurry while they are not

That is probably a gnome-panel or GTK issue but there was discussion on IRC and
I think some #tango guy suggested to lapo that using Fixed for 22x22 would be
fine and fix the issue. Nobody had strong arguments against it so we did the
change

Fine. So maybe, as I commented on gnome's bugzilla, the correct fix is
to change the occurrences of MinSize=1 to MinSize=32 for the scalable
icons. And then maybe all the occurrences of Threshold should be changed
to Fixed?
