[Bug 585209] Re: .odt and .ods open with fileroller instead of openoffice

2012-11-07 Thread Valentijn Sessink
This could be just a manifestation of bug #435719. Not sure though,
because the original report does not mention if /home is mounted on NFS.

[Bug 585209] Re: .odt and .ods open with fileroller instead of openoffice

2010-10-07 Thread Brett Alton
When I upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10, the error still appeared. I created
a new user, moved over all my documents (but not my preferences) and the
error no long occurs. So it appears something corrupted a vital
preference but I'm not sure what. The user account that still has the
error on my machine still exists if you need further testing.

Lastly, when I right-clicked the document and said 'Open with
OpenOffice.org Writer' (if it was .odt) would open OpenOffice.org
Writer, but it wouldn't retrieve the file requested, instead just opened
'Untitled1'.

2010-10-07 Thread Omer Akram
could you try to right click on those files and set their open with
preference? wouldnt that solve the problem? and it would be really
helpful if you could try to reproduce this problem under ubuntu 10.10

As a further note, I cannot open ZIP files over SFTP either.

[Bug 585209] Re: .odt and .ods open with fileroller instead of openoffice

2010-10-04 Thread ipsi
This is affecting me too. I cannot create a new user on the target
system, as I do not have the correct permissions (and in any event it
doesn't have a GUI).

This did not occur under Ubuntu 9.10, and has only started happening
since I upgraded (I did *not* do a fresh install) to Ubuntu 10.04.

When I select properties for the file, then "Open With", I see that Open
Office is the only application selected. However, when I double-click on
the file to open it, I get the message "There is no application
installed for OpenDocument Text files". If I then select Open Office
manually, it opens a blank document. If I copy the file locally, then I
can open it and edit it.

I can open other files via SFTP (e.g. text files), so the blank document
part might be an open office problem. However, I'm unsure why it does
not think there is any application that is able to open .odt documents.

Running gnome-open from the command line gives me this:

# gnome-open sftp://u...@host/path/to/doc.odt
Error showing url: No application is registered as handling this file

Is there anything else I can provide you with that might help?

[Bug 585209] Re: .odt and .ods open with fileroller instead of openoffice

2010-05-25 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
I cannot confirm this, Tried accessing to open an ODS document in a
remote machine and when double click on it openoffice was open , not an
issue here, also tried with a fresh user created on my system that
worked fine too, do you have any other steps on how to reproduce this?
could you recreate it with a new user created there? thanks in advance.
