[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
Whe I try to scan my collection, of which part is located on a sshfs share, it hangs, sometimes at 1% sometimes at 91% or it gives a crash. I can access the sshfs share with Nautlus wthout a problem, so that's not the problem. The crash gave the "Problem with libtag" popup. I've added the automated crash report. I'm using Ubuntu 6.10 Gnome. ** Attachment added: "Problem report for Amarok" http://librarian.launchpad.net/6582183/_usr_lib_amarok_amarokcollectionscanner.1000.crash -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
Well I changed the Samba mount to NFS as suggested by someone at IRC. Still no luck. Got a crash report this time so I will attach that. Just a reminder that the exact same collection works great on FC6 with Amarok 1.4.4 where the collection is local but crashes with Ubuntu 6.10 while collection scanning via NFS mount. ** Attachment added: "Crash report ubuntu 6.10" http://librarian.launchpad.net/6496411/_usr_bin_amarokcollectionscanner.1000.crash -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
well now it seems that when amarok scans the samba drive : 1. It doesn't complete. 2. The samba share is messed up. : I have several shares from the same computer, but only the one that amarok was using was inaccessable. 3. The entire system became unresponsive and I had to reboot. there was no "crash" as such but it seemed worse than that as reboot was the only option after the system froze -- seemed like I was back on Windoze again for a moment :) I have tried this several times with the same result. system info: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a Linux saturn 2.6.17-11-386 #2 Thu Feb 1 19:50:13 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux. [Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
Well now what happens is this: Scanning just stops at around 12% and i cannot access the samba share thereafter. I will try breaking up the scan into smaller chunks system info: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a Linux saturn 2.6.17-11-386 #2 Thu Feb 1 19:50:13 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ amarok --version Qt: 3.3.6 KDE: 3.5.5 Amarok: 1.4.5 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ mysql --version mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.24a, for pc-linux-gnu (i486) using readline 5.1 -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
Thanks for the update .. I am trying it with amarok 1.4.5 and will post results here. It still hasn't completed the scan So far it has crashed twice ... once at 7% and again at 43%, but that might have been due to some issues with the network shares. I have re-arranged my samba shares, blown out the old mySql database and have started the scan again. I will report on the progress. -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
There was a change made in Amarok 1.4.5 for Kubuntu packages that may relate to this problem (bug 81768). Could you please try updating to 1.4.5 and test again, Adrian? Thanks. http://kubuntu.org/announcements/amarok-1.4.5.php -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
I can confirm that this is a problem with Ubuntu Edgy. I have Amarok 1.4.4 running with MySQL on Fedora Core 6 (Zod) and it scans my (fairly large) collection just fine. However, I have shared the music files via a samba share on the Ubuntu box, with the same logical file structure (/home/music), with several subdirectories beneath. I have set up a different MySQL database on the Ubuntu box as I had heard of some issues with scanning from two different boxes updating the same database. In short ... scanning the collection works wine with FC6 exact same collection bombs with Ubuntu. Let me know if you need any more details. -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
Me too. - Ubuntu Edgy - Samba share from a Linksys NSLU2, mounted with smbfs - Approx 7Gb library. What's bizarre is that the files it claims to have a problem with play ok and you can import their directories into the collection individually. There's nothing wrong with the files but it fails in the same place every time. Rhythmbox has no problem reading the whole collection. I'd rather have an incomplete collection than none. Shouldn't Amarok collection run to completion even if it does get errors from taglib? I'd also like to see the winamp approach that drag'n'drop into the collection pane just read tags rather than copying files. If that's what it's doing. But that's another story. -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
I didn't have this problem in Gentoo either.. It has been ubuntu specific from what I can tell. -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
I'm using Arch Linux for now and don't have this problem anymore, but I still have the same files on the same type of partitions, though I can't say where the problem has been fixed here. -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
fwiw, as someone noted in the forum thread if you add a few subdirectories at a time and rescan the collection you can eventually get it all. But when doing one massive directory across a samba share it chokes with that taglib error. I can replicate this problem in ppc64, and the samba share is 32gig. -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Same problem here, and amarok crashes. [Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
I think edgy brings a broken taglib package. When I'm trying to recompile for example libtunepimp3 there is a mistake finding /usr/bin /taglib-config although it is there. -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
Yes, even with the new 1.4.4 it still the same. It seems it is a tag lib problem and not an amarok one, but then I don't understand why it started with amarok 1.4.2. Let's hope for taglib 1.5 -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58613] Re: Problem with libtag
I have the same problem and for me, a dialog box saying that amarokcollectionscanner had crashed appeared. Here is the bug report (it actually crashed twice, but I suppose it is because of the same reason and won't post the second one). ** Attachment added: "collectionscanner crash report" http://librarian.launchpad.net/4942187/_usr_lib_amarok_amarokcollectionscanner.1000.crash -- Problem with libtag https://launchpad.net/bugs/58613 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

yes this problem occurs for me since i upgraded to edgy beta "Désolé mais l'analyseur de collection a échoué suite à de trop nombreuses erreurs.
