[Bug 58638] Re: [bcm43xx] panic on boot
the 512MB boot option does enable the BCM module to be loaded and does allow it to be used (I can use iwlist), but on a 64bit machine X windowed envrionment I cant use it for much! Its still causing problems in 2.6.17.1-10.34 Is there any idea on when this may be fixed? -- [bcm43xx] panic on boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/58638 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58638] Re: [bcm43xx] panic on boot
I have this with 2GB present. This same problem happened on dapper but got fixed. Looks like its back again. solution for me is to remove the kernel module (as bcm43xx networking doesnt yet work for me last time I tried!) -- [bcm43xx] panic on boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/58638 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58638] Re: [bcm43xx] panic on boot
I finally got around to testing with mem=512M. I can now load the module without a panic. It looks like this is the DMA issue. -- [bcm43xx] panic on boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/58638 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 58638] Re: [bcm43xx] panic on boot
If you boot with mem=512 are things any happier? If so, it's the problem that some Broadcoms have with DMAing to above 1GB. We'll see what we can do. -- [bcm43xx] panic on boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/58638 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 58638] Re: [bcm43xx] panic on boot
How much RAM do you have, and what sort of Broadcom is this? -- [bcm43xx] panic on boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/58638 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 58638] Re: [bcm43xx] panic on boot
No hard lockup/freeze here anymore with 2.6.17-10.27. Good job. -- [bcm43xx] panic on boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/58638 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58638] Re: [bcm43xx] panic on boot
Not sure it is related or if i should open a new bug but when i do modprobe bcm43xx the system freeze. If i do the modprobe in console i see the message : BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#0 kernel is : linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic2.6.17-10.27 Card is : 06:05.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) -- [bcm43xx] panic on boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/58638 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58638] Re: [bcm43xx] panic on boot
Please test the 2.6.17-10.27 kernel that is being uploaded now (should show within a day). -- [bcm43xx] panic on boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/58638 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 58638] Re: [bcm43xx] panic on boot
I don't know if my bug is related. Also the current (13.09.2006) fresh Edgy and when I load bcm43xx with modprobe and then ifup eth1 (the wireless card), I get a hard lockup of the machine, thus a bug in the driver. -- [bcm43xx] panic on boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/58638 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
