Re: [Bug 591553] Re: system crashed while installing multimedia packages
I have replied to one of your previous automatic messages but never received a reply. I am a new user to Linux and have tried to read and understand your link. I am still confused as to what is considered an upstream kernel. Also I can't figure out the mapping of what is considered the proper version to choose with relation to the stock kernel. It appears the mapping selects a kernel from back in August of last year as the correct one that maps to my stock kernel from April 2010 of this year. This makes no sense to me. [Bug 591553] Re: system crashed while installing multimedia packages
Hi Keith, If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message.
