Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

My wife's using Lucid Lynx on an eMachine's T2798 with D845GVSR MB,
512MB RAM, 2.7GHz and a max video ram of 8MB (the motherboard doesn't
have an AGP slot and no available PCI Video Card in our area).

I believe GDM crashes due to the limited video memory, but previous
installations of Ubuntu (Jaunty Jackalope since Karmic Koala won't
install) worked fine. This is also a fresh install.

What happens is, at very random times, the screen will just start to
flicker regardless whether my wife's running a video-intensive
applications or not. It's just very random.
