Just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 on my Acer Travel Mate 6592G laptop and I can confirm that the problem still exists. I did try a little more today. 1) Normal boot Computer is freezing. The output on the screen says Starting CUPS printing spooler/server. 2) Failsafe X (low graphics) boot Some tpm_tis error messages are flashing by. Boots fine after that. 3) Normal boot with tpm_tis blacklisted Computer is freezing. The output on the screen says Stopping System V initialisation compatibility!. Hi Kurt, I just upgraded to Natty Alpha 2 using update-manager -d. When rebooting after the install/upgrade, the grub menu flickering some and its freezing somewhere half through the boot process. I can boot into a failsafe X session though and that's what I'm using right now. However it's getting late (work tomorrow) so I don't have time to dig in to this more right now.
