Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug? Ok, I give up. This should've been fixed before 10.10 was released as this is bug, that can mess up whole system. Happend to me again today. This is so annoying and you should really do something about it. Even waiting for application that created the lock to exit would be better than just print database locked with no other information like you need to run manually blahblah to fix your packages.
