Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic

When booting the system in about 70% of the cases the system locks up
during the boot up splash screen.

If I switch to text console (F1) before the lockup occures it will show the
following:
[17179605.640000] BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#0!

No reaction after that. But as mentioned, there are chances that it
comes up just fine.

I'm using linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic (which is a dependency of
linux-686-smp). The lockup occured definitely with 2.6.17-8 and later.
2.6.17-7 seems to come up fine.

The computer is a Samsung Notebook R65 with Intel Pentium M Core Duo
T2300.
