[Bug 64119] Re: add/remove ati binary package
Now I know better.. When you have fglrx installed it breaks 3D with the free driver. Feisty has a 'restricted-manager' tool which makes it easy to switch the driver. ** Changed in: Ubuntu Status: Needs Info = Rejected -- add/remove ati binary package https://launchpad.net/bugs/64119 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 64119] Re: add/remove ati binary package
no problem, but try to change ati to fglrx after you've installed the binary so we can be sure that was the issue :) -- add/remove ati binary package https://launchpad.net/bugs/64119 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 64119] Re: add/remove ati binary package
I don't quite follow you :) What ati binary package are you referring to? Do you mean that you first had the fglrx-driver and then removed that and problems started? -- add/remove ati binary package https://launchpad.net/bugs/64119 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 64119] Re: add/remove ati binary package
i mean the ATI binary X.Org driver. I didn't uninstall anything. After Edgy installation the fglrx works just fine without adding anything else, it's after installing ATI binary X.Org driver the problems begin.(Add/Remove Applications ... System Tools ... don't know... when firs installing the add/remove driver is not checked. Told you after i've installed it I had problems. Now i've uninstalled the driver and it's working fine look ** Attachment added: it's unchecked http://librarian.launchpad.net/4682444/Screenshot.png -- add/remove ati binary package https://launchpad.net/bugs/64119 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 64119] Re: add/remove ati binary package
could you run: grep Driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf on the console when you have the good setup working, and post the result here? Maybe you could also attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log from both good and bad setup (it is rewritten on server restart, so copy it elsewhere when running the good setup, and again when running the bad one) -- add/remove ati binary package https://launchpad.net/bugs/64119 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 64119] Re: add/remove ati binary package
so you are using the same driver on both (ati)... After you've installed the binary one, change the ati in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to fglrx and you should be set. To be honest, I don't see why it doesn't work with ati-driver when fglrx is installed. ps. it would've been nice to attach the logs as separate files.. -- add/remove ati binary package https://launchpad.net/bugs/64119 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
