Why are you using the model=lg quirk? I added the model=lg line to alsa-base.conf some time ago (I think when I installed ubuntu 6.10 on 2006, but I'm not sure). If I don't use it the built-in speakers and the mics (both the built-in and external) dont work. Ok, so there are two bugs being reported here: 1) Your machine needs a model quirk applied. Please file a separate bug so we can get that fix pushed upstream. Just to clarify, do all playback and capture work properly (aside from crackling, etc.) with that quirk? 1) Everything works as expected when I use the model=lg option, except one thing: I have to reselect the mic (click on other mic, or in Line-In, and then on the Mic again) in the mixer on every reboot in order to have it working. If I don't do this, the mic doesn't work. Related to that, I've found this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/595482 I think it's the same problem (i've posted a comment on it) . Should I file another bug? 2) The problem of the pops, crackling and music slow-down didn't happen before ubuntu 10.10 (perhaps before 10.04, I'm not sure.. sorry, I should have filed the bug before). It happens with the model=lg quirk and without it.
