[Bug 662255] Re: Re-Connection problem WLAN/mobile

2011-03-25 Thread Martin Wildam
For the mobile problem I have filed a new bug - see Bug #742596 as it
happened again for mobile.

Thanks Martin,

Closing, this bug is not reproducible at this point, a new one should be
opened (or this one reopened) in case it can be reproduced at a later
point.

Since then I had the problem only once in a situation with poor
network signal strength on 3G. But for WLAN everything's fine so far -
didn't stress test with all my machines yet, but seems ok now. Didn't
change the password of WLAN in the meantime - so didn't try that one
but who cares.

I would say you can close the bug - I will post for the case I face
the issue again.

Thank you and best regards,

Martin.

immediately.

[Bug 662255] Re: Re-Connection problem WLAN/mobile

2010-12-11 Thread Martin Wildam
On my 10.10 I have it quite on every cold boot that network manager keeps me
offline.
After the latest updates I noticed an error I was not aware before - displayed
on the text console:

Dec 10 00:57:09 wildi-torres kernel: [ 28.125058] iwlagn :0c:00.0: Error
sending REPLY_RXON: time out after 500ms.
Dec 10 00:57:09 wildi-torres kernel: [ 28.125062] iwlagn :0c:00.0: Error
setting new RXON (-110)

Attached you find the syslog-offline and dmesg-offline from startup
until login when I am kept being offline. The other two are the same
logfiles continued with re-connection attempt which connected me
successfully.

I wonder why you think that it is a driver issue, when it worked from
9.04 until 10.04. I don't think, the working driver has been changed
that much.

[Bug 662255] Re: Re-Connection problem WLAN/mobile

2010-12-01 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Martin, let's focus on the wifi reconnection issue for now, and tackle
3G after. I think 3G reconnection is expected not to be done, for
various reasons.

I'd be tempted to say this is another driver issue, but to be certain,
could you please do a clean boot of your system, use it normally, and as
soon as it disconnects, try to re-establish the connection and attach
/var/log/syslog to this bug report. There are a bit too much data and
too many reconnections to be certain what goes on (it looks a little
different every time in the WifiSyslog.txt that is already attached).

If possible, please also check or confirm whether this behavior also
happens when you're very close to the wireless AP.

Thanks!

There is similarity to newly filed Bug #669584 although definitely not
the same behavior.

[Bug 662255] Re: Re-Connection problem WLAN/mobile

2010-10-31 Thread Martin Wildam
Same problem occurred again on my Maverick machine without changing the
WLAN password.

I started the machine and should connect automatically to WLAN as
configured. But different from usual after a while it brought up the
WLAN login dialog. Manual disconnect and reconnect did not help.

On my notebook I have a switch to turn off WLAN - did that and after
turning off again I was able to reconnect to the WLAN.

Latest kernel log attached.

I forgot to mention: With broadband I experienced the problem on a
different machine (Dell Latitude E5500 Notebook) - so the problem is not
limited to the Dell Latitude 2110 netbook from which I reported the
problem first.

[Bug 662255] Re: Re-Connection problem WLAN/mobile

2010-10-17 Thread Martin Wildam
The same problem - that I can't reconnect - I also notice when I am
traveling in train having mobile internet stick attached and connection
is interrupted (e.g. because of a tunnel), reconnection is also not
possible. Also have to do the steps mentioned above (but for mobile
broadband of course instead of Wireless) to be able to reconnect to the
internet (Note: PIN input is disabled for my mobile broadband sticks - I
have two of them).

So I think, there is a general problem in reconnecting not limited to
Wireless or mobile broadband.
