Yes, this bug is related to some broken mirrors you might be using. Actually it shouldn't crash at all of course but when developing I never had a mirror that provided me NULL values to some data. The fix was done in packagekit-backend-aptcc and it fixed another bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/633008 It's not released yet, as soon as it got released it won't crash anymore. Happened on my fresh up-to-date x86 install as well. I changed sources in kpackagekit (through edit origins) to find out if it happens only when there are updates available. Instead of crashing turning some sources off and than back on (with restarts in between) solved the problem and notifier works again. This solved the same crash on other install as well. It took me two days and and 2 testing installs to solve.
