Workaround posted on KDE tracker (I can confirm that it works): http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136378#c15 Basically, it doesn't know what master channel to adjust the volume on until you manually set it. I have the same bug, i can't adjut the volume or unmute or mute.
