Evgeny, do you still have this problem with Feisty or with the latest Gutsy live CD? Robin, please file a seperate bug report. These kind off bugs are very machine/hardware specific and shoudn't be united unless you have a bug with exactly the same hardware or chipset. I'm glad to report that the problem as I described it is gone in Feisty. There still is a little problem about switching users: the second logged-in user cannot use Synaptics touchpad as long as the first one remains logged in. This problem is not too much hardware-specific, as both my laptops (Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M7400 and Lenovo 3000 N100) suffer the same symptoms. I have the same problem with Ubuntu Feisty. My video card is ATI Radeon Xpress 200M. Whenever I try to logout, my system irrecoverably hangs. I have seen the same problem reported in other threads.
