[Bug 730915] Re: package watershed 5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-04-14 Thread Julian Taylor
I just tried it with the beta 2 amd64 iso with persistent storage and
installing lvm2 + watershed worked.
I used the same usb stick and the same method to create it (usb-creator-gtk)
perhaps the other two tries where somehow corrupted.

[Bug 730915] Re: package watershed 5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-04-13 Thread Brian Murray
Perhaps the message from the Bug Bot is poorly worded however in the log
file all we have is the following to go on:

update-initramfs: deferring update (trigger activated)
lzma: Encoder error: -2147467259
dpkg: error processing watershed (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Which isn't helpful in determining in what went wrong with the package
installation. The lzma error message -2147467259 can happen for a lot
of reasons. Until lzma is made more informative there isn't much we can
do with these bug reports and this is why I made it a duplicate of bug
691985.

One thing to further test this might be to manually try installing the
downloaded watershed package and see what happens. For what its worth I
tried recreating this by setting up a persistent USB stick with a Natty
ISO from 20110413 and was unsuccessful - I was able to install watershed
without a problem.

2011-03-16 Thread Julian Taylor
removing duplicate status, this is no problem of a too vague error message.
It is an error which prevents installation. It still occurs in Mar15 live cd.

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 691985
lzma: Encoder error: -2147467259 is too vague and causes unhelpful
apport-package reports

[Bug 730915] Re: package watershed 5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-03-07 Thread Ubuntu QA's Bug Bot
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 691985 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691985

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, the package installation error message
that you have received is actually a failure with lzma and a generic one
at that. The following steps may help resolve the issue. Please
execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a
terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again as this may resolve your issue. We
plan to make lzma errors more informative and that work is being tracked
in bug 691985 which I will mark this a duplicate of.
