The reason Gimp has been added to the report is that it exhibits similar behaviour. I also get the second icon, which is really disturbing and most of all, takes away lots of space due to the way, unity works with its big icons. But it's not technically solved. This is just a workaround. I have this bug too. A workaround to get Netbeans to launch from the Unity launcher is to drag from /usr/share/applications onto the launcher.
