Sorry, this bug was in error, although only partly. It turned out that the bonobo-activation-server still remained from an older session, and therefore its DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS environment variable was wrong for the current session. However, that does indicate a problem with bonobo-activation-server, but I guess that is something which ought to be reported upstream.
