[Bug 746699] Re: failure trying to install from Debian 4.0 (kernel 2.6.18-5)
I had forgotten I even filed this a decade ago. I don't really have such a system to test with anymore, and it's not clear what more recent versions of things would be worth testing with. I suspect this can just be closed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/746699 Title: failure trying to install from Debian 4.0 (kernel 2.6.18-5) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debootstrap/+bug/746699/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 746699] Re: failure trying to install from Debian 4.0 (kernel 2.6.18-5)
Actually, as I was putting this together I realized a way I might be able to work around what was going on, and I just tried it and it seems to have worked. By copying 'tar' from the local system to /usr/bin/tar in the new system I can put a working tar before the problematic tar in the path, and the working tar doesn't get overwritten by the new tar installation. I still wonder whether something can or should be done to make debootstrap handle this itself more gracefully... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/746699 Title: failure trying to install from Debian 4.0 (kernel 2.6.18-5) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
