I'm sorry, I don't know which package handles sleep on laptops.
Steps to reproduce:
#1: Boot system off of desktop-i386 .iso for Ubuntu Feisty Fawn Herd 1.
#2: Click logout button in upper right
#3: Note that there are no options for suspend or hibernate.
In the previous version (Ubuntu Edgy) there were both options. However,
only hibernate worked, suspend would suspend, but the system couldn't
wake. With hibernate, both hibernate and unhibernate (so to speak)
worked fine.
