thanks a lot Henrik, it looks like my CD was corrupted. Thanks a lot, Ive done some hardware tinkering since that last install attempt, My windows reload was botching too. Turns out to have been a rare case of brand new ram being crap. Now time to brave the dual boot set up again, thanks for the input. Since this is a Live CD based installer you have likely lost the original log files when you turned off or rebooted the machine. In that case the only way to get the log files is to reproduced the install procedure (with the crash) and upload the files directly from the Live CD. To upload the files you need to run firefox from the Live CD session where the installer crashed, visit this bug page and click on 'Add a comment/attachment' at the bottom of the page. Click Browse and navigate to the requested files in /var/log. There is no logs from when my installer crashed. Next time it does though I know where to find them. Maybe you can help me with another problem, i tried to install again, and i will go through the 6 steps, set up all the partitions, and try to install, and it will start to for about 10 sec. then the whole installer disappears. Could you please attach /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman to this bug, by commenting on the bug's web page? These might be quite long to copy on paper - if can't you access the internet from the LiveCD try to copy them over to a floppy/cdrom/usb- stick and attach them using another computer.
