2011-10-24 Thread Jussi Rytkönen
I fully agree there should be action on clicking active icon, but i also
strongly think that that action should be hiding the program. This is
the standard on most OS's, and i don't see why Unity should break from
this convention.

2011-10-24 Thread Magnes
I believe in Windows 7 the action is - for apps with multiple windows -
beautiful view of active windows of an application. Much better than
taking the whole screen window selection in Ubuntu. For apps with only
one window it's minimising.

@kjkorhonen, or @om26er; could you report this as a separate bug with
clear steps to reproduce (focus steeling by alerts sounds like a
different issue to this bug)

There are not enough information for me to report a new bug for the
issue described in comment # 2

[Bug 774305] Re: Clicking active window icon doesn't do anything

2011-10-15 Thread kjkorhonen
This is very confusing to the user. For example I get some error
messages from Thunderbird while browsing with Firefox. When this
happens, Thunderbird is brought to the front all of a sudden, but the
Firefox window still remains technically active. Clicking the Firefox
icon does nothing, since the window is active even though I can't see
it. The only way to get Firefox to the front is to first click some
other launcher icon to deactivate Firefox.

The Unity launcher icons should always and in any situation bring the
clicked application to front. In my opinion this is a bug, not wishlist.
