Even with growisofs there's some setup that might solve your problem... check on dconf-editor - org - gnome -brasero - config - dao_flag also you have other options here that might help you solve the problem 3) I've tried to set all the flags there: dao-flag + immed-flag + raw-flag -- same problem of unreadable DVD without any error from the program. I suggest you to try cdrecord not wodim (cdrkit) which comes installed by default on Ubuntu. 4) This is not so clear to me... I had a look in the Software Center but I cannot find anything ready to install. Googling around I've found that in a PPA: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/cdrtools sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install cdrecord cdda2wav mkisofs + reboot The installed cdrecord is now 3.0.0. I cannot find any cdrecord entry in dconf-editor. As I've written on the Brasero bug (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=655601) it clearly started with Ubuntu 11.04 and it's still here on 11.10, and even with Fedora 16.
