[Bug 794390] Re: [K40IJ/K50IJ, VIA VT1708S, Green Headphone Out, Rear] No automute

2011-11-21 Thread David Henningsson
It is highly likely to be included in the next release of Ubuntu.
Because the problem is non-trivial, it is unlikely that it reaches
Ubuntu 11.10.

Thanks for the feedback.

[Bug 794390] Re: [K40IJ/K50IJ, VIA VT1708S, Green Headphone Out, Rear] No automute

2011-11-20 Thread Alessio "Spinus" Moscatello
Thanks for the tip, I've installed alsa-hda-dkms version
0.20181453~oneiric1 and now it works perfectly: plugging in the jack
mutes only the internal speakers...now what I should do? There is a way
to suggest Ubuntu mantainer to upgrade alsa to the latest version? Or it
will be upgraded only in the next release of Ubuntu?

Regards,
Alessio

[Bug 794390] Re: [K40IJ/K50IJ, VIA VT1708S, Green Headphone Out, Rear] No automute

2011-11-16 Thread David Henningsson
Hrm, so there is indeed a problem with the volume control named "Front"
- on some computers, the headphones are affected when you change
"Front", on other computers "Front" controls the speakers. I e, you
can't make a global decision whether to mute the "Front" control when
headphones are plugged in, because you'll screw up either one machine or
the other. :-(

The solution is to try to rename "Front" to "Speaker" in the node below.
Would any of you mind testing
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS to make sure upstream
hasn't already done this? Thanks.

2011-11-15 Thread djdg
I have an Asus K50IJ also, and by changing it everytime manually to
'headphone speakers' in ubuntu 11.04 it was fixed. But now in 11.10
oneeric there is no difference when I do that. I'm sorry to see that the
problem has come back :( Please keep me updated about this, as I will
also do myself.

[Bug 794390] Re: [K40IJ/K50IJ, VIA VT1708S, Green Headphone Out, Rear] No automute

2011-10-14 Thread Alessio "Spinus" Moscatello
I'm adding K50IJ to the title, because I've the same problem...
An additional note: when I was using Natty I where able to mute the laptop
speaker unmuting "front channell" and then switching it to 100%: doing so the
internal speaker where muted, and the external headphones where unmuted...now
in Oneiric regulating front channel changes internal speaker and external
headphones in the same way.
