Apology that you had to wait so long for a reply to your bug report.  In
the meantime both Ubuntu and Hugin have moved on and the versions
against which this report was filed (11.10 and 2011.0.0 respectively)
are no longer supported/maintained.  I will have to close this report.

If you are still affected by the bug when using a newer/supported
version of Ubuntu and Hugin, please file a new report.  To get the
attention it deserves, make sure it is listed in the Hugin bug tracker
at

Tried to reproduce. Start is too fast on my machine.
Trid twice to run under valgrind control for a slowdown. When main frame is 
drawn, "tip of the say" is already shown.
