I'm running gutsy beta, all fine since after installing some updates a few days ago: the maximum resolution available for me is 640x480, with both of the oss and closed (which by the way offers me 3d ...). I tried manually setting a modeline (from someone else's successful configuration of the same monitor with a different video card), and that didn't work. David: That may well be because the the proprietary drivers poke a new modeline in for 1600x1200. Sitsofe: The same card works just fine with the proprietary drivers. I have the same problem -- the proprietary nvidia drivers give me 1600x1200, but the free nv drivers only give me 1280x1024.
