[Bug 83178] Re: [feisty] nm-applet claims wired connection when its wireless
according to gnome bug this was fixed in svn revision 2578. We have: debian/patches/24pp_svn2578-gnome354565-fix-ethernet-link-detection-races.patch thus, this should be fixed in gutsy by now. [Bug 83178] Re: [feisty] nm-applet claims wired connection when its wireless
I can confirm with the latest gutsy with all upgrades as of 14th Sept wireless works but is reported as a wired network by nm-applet, this wasn't the case before recent updates. wireless card is Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01) -- [feisty] nm-applet claims wired connection when its wireless https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/83178 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 83178] Re: [feisty] nm-applet claims wired connection when its wireless
Same problem on latest Kubuntu Gutsy and knetworkmanager. The relevant lspci output is: 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10) 01:04.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection (rev 05) -- [feisty] nm-applet claims wired connection when its wireless https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/83178 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 83178] Re: [feisty] nm-applet claims wired connection when its wireless
I see this pretty much all the time running Kubuntu Feisty on a ThinkPad T40 (Atheros-based 802.11a/b card): [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo lspci | grep Atheros 02:02.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5211 802.11ab NIC (rev 01) I am also seeing the frequent reconnection behaviour that looks a lot like bug #64173 in network-manager. Could these be related? If Network-manager thinks this is a wired network, would this make it less tolerant of the occasional wireless dropouts? -- [feisty] nm-applet claims wired connection when its wireless https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/83178 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 83178] Re: [feisty] nm-applet claims wired connection when its wireless
I think I see the same problem on gutsy: at startup, network manager claims that the wired network is connected when it clearly isn’t. I applied the patch http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/NetworkManager?view=revisionrevision=2578 from GNOME #354565 and rebuilt network-manager. Now behavior is slightly improved: network-manager doesn’t think the wired network is connected anymore. But it still doesn’t automatically connect to the wireless network. -- [feisty] nm-applet claims wired connection when its wireless https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/83178 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It does appear to be the same as listed upstream. The reports at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=194124 that upstream's comes from certainly are the same as this. -- [feisty] nm-applet claims wired connection when its wireless https://launchpad.net/bugs/83178 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
