That fixed the problem but directly after rebooting I now have this other strange issue. See the attached screenshot. It seems to me like unity does not get started but only nautilus does. i have updated my system and than i restart my system but when i login the background was black and i changed it from the background setting. I just reported this in Bug #862935 see my screen shots attached. Also the first reboot after the latest update caused numerous crashes and error messages to be reported. I had to just shut down and start again to get logged in successfully.
