Also the videos have to be stored on my encrypted hd, it never occurs whilst streaming from my kodi system. In addition it appears to be related to the amount of prior activity. I have never had the problem if I am playing the video immediately after logging back in after a fail or immediately after a system start up. Odd thing is that the screensaver still works. I am using Ubuntu 14.04 on a 4,1 macbook. It had problems earlier today when trying to wake it; I had to reboot it. I have both MacOSX and Ubuntu on separate partitions while using rEFIt to chose between them.
