[Bug 877871] Re: vmware workstation 8 causes 11.10 to hang on boot

2011-12-05 Thread Na_OH
This is also affecting me. It hung on up after the initial upgrade-
install from 11.04 to 11.10 and now after the first kernel kernel update
(3.0.0-12-generic = 3.0.0-13-generic). The irritating workaround is to
boot into the last bootable kernel (3.0.0-12-generic in my case),
uninstall using vmware (8.0.1 workstation) uninstall scripts, reboot
into current kernel which will then boot, and reinstall vmware.
Fortunately the vmware uninstaller leaves all vm's and settings in
place, nevertheless it is a bit of a hassle. With verbose booting you
can see the hang occurs on Starting Workstation Server Fail

[Bug 877871] Re: vmware workstation 8 causes 11.10 to hang on boot

2011-10-20 Thread Brian Murray
Casper is the Ubuntu Live CD environment and since this bug deals with
vmware workstation, which isn't on the Live CD, it is not related to
casper.

** Package changed: casper (Ubuntu) = ubuntu
