Hello krusty, or anyone else affected,

Accepted apper into oneiric-proposed, the package will build now and be
available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

i enabled pre-release updates in muon-settings-configure software
sources-updates, installed apper version 0.7.0~20111008-0ubuntu1.1 and now
sudo apt-get install kpackagekit
runs without errors.

thank you

then I think this should be assigned to apt, as I believe apper is
already installed and as kpackagekit package is there just to provide
apper I dunno how the error should look like.

[Bug 878138] Re: misleading error from apt-get :kpackagekit : Depends: apper but it is not going to be installed

2011-10-19 Thread Felix Geyer
This line in the apper control field is wrong:
Breaks: kpackagekit (= 0.7.0~20111008-0ubuntu1)

Instead it should be
Breaks: kpackagekit ( 0.7.0~20111008-0ubuntu1~)
to make kpackagekit and apper co-installable (otherwise there is no point in
having a transitional package).

** Package changed: kpackagekit (Ubuntu) = apper (Ubuntu)

But KPackageKit is not coinstallable with Apper as KPackageKit can't be
build due not having packagekit-qt1 on oneiric.

[Bug 878138] Re: misleading error from apt-get :kpackagekit : Depends: apper but it is not going to be installed

2011-10-19 Thread Matthias Klumpp
The problem is a wrong Breaks entry on kpackagekit, which makes it impossible
to install kpk and apper at the same time.
This is solved by the patch I attached, but in any way, it does not make much
sense to install the kpk package. (But it also does not hurt, as it's section
is oldlibs and it will be auto-removed)
Sorry for this issue, was in a way my fault. :(

@debfx: Oh, sorry - I somehow missed your post...
@dantti: KPackageKit is no longer present in the archive, the kpk package is
only there for a smooth transition to Apper. :)

[Bug 878138] Re: misleading error from apt-get :kpackagekit : Depends: apper but it is not going to be installed

2011-10-19 Thread Ubuntu QA's Bug Bot
The attachment fix-878138.debdiff of this bug report has been
identified as being a patch in the form of a debdiff. The ubuntu-
sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can
review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event that this is in
fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by removing the tag
'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment so that it is not
flagged as a patch. Additionally, if you are member of the ubuntu-
sponsors please also unsubscribe the team from this bug report.
