I did not see that it was you :) It is indeed not fixed in plain oneiric(-updates), by default these kind of changes are not incorporated in existing releases to prevent breakage of them. I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Precise Pangolin (at least I would expect it will make it in there). Thanks for the notification - my fault, that exact upstream comment was actually written by myself, I just forgot to follow up on this bug report as well. The problem is solved for me using the latest versions from the Kubuntu PPA. Sorry, why has this bug been auto-closed as WONTFIX? This bug makes Plasma NM in Kubuntu barely usable, if usable at all... I'm not sure how bug reporting works or if this is helpful but I have this issue on a laptop and a netbook (on two different wifi networks) since the Oneiric upgrade. Once the password is entered, they both connect without issues.
