[Bug 881526] Re: System freezes, kernel crashes, [fglrx] ASIC hang happened
I have this issue on 12.10 stock, with the stock 3.5.18 kernel, fglrx_updates, an A10-5800k, and no overclocking on any system component. I tried overvolting some parts to make sure its a software error, which it seems to be. I'm going to try Kernel 3.6 to see if it solves anything. ** Attachment added: Kernel Log Dump of FGLRX failing https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/881526/+attachment/3431638/+files/kernfglrxdmp.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881526 Title: System freezes, kernel crashes, [fglrx] ASIC hang happened To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/amd/+bug/881526/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 881526] Re: System freezes, kernel crashes, [fglrx] ASIC hang happened
I get the same issue in 11.10. When I come back, I get a blank screen which I cannot wake-up and my laptop fan is running full speed. I have the hard power it to get it back up. Here is my stack, which looks similar, perhaps exactly the same: ov 6 07:49:15 caprica kernel: [ 2242.104577] INFO: rcu_sched_state detected stall on CPU 0 (t=15000 jiffies) Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883483] [fglrx] ASIC hang happened Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883489] Pid: 1168, comm: Xorg Tainted: P C 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883491] Call Trace: Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883529] [a0148d7e] KCL_DEBUG_OsDump+0xe/0x10 [fglrx] Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883546] [a015620c] firegl_hardwareHangRecovery+0x1c/0x50 [fglrx] Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883580] [a01e2d59] ? _ZN4Asic9WaitUntil15ResetASICIfHungEv+0x9/0x10 [fglrx] Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883612] [a01e2d0c] ? _ZN4Asic9WaitUntil15WaitForCompleteEv+0x6c/0xb0 [fglrx] Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883643] [a01ddfb4] ? _ZN15ExecutableUnits10CPRingIdleE15idle_WaitMethod12_QS_CP_RING_+0xe4/0x1a0 [fglrx] Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883674] [a01dde7b] ? _ZN15ExecutableUnits7PM4idleE15idle_WaitMethod+0x4b/0x90 [fglrx] Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883703] [a01ddafe] ? _ZN15ExecutableUnits9assertPM4Eb+0x1e/0x70 [fglrx] Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883735] [a01e9259] ? _ZN8AsicR6009assertPM4Eb+0x39/0x80 [fglrx] Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883755] [a0173560] ? firegl_cmmqs_enableqs+0x90/0x90 [fglrx] Nov 6 07:51:15 caprica kernel: [ 2361.883782] [a01b9856] ?
