We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. This bug was reported some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu and Firefox since that time. Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017 and Ubuntu 13.10 (saucy) reached end-of-life on July 17, 2014. Does anyone still see a problem related to the one that was reported using currently supported versions of Firefox and Ubuntu? I found out by personal testing that Firefox in OpenSuse is also affected, so it seems not to be distro specific. For me this bug disappeared today. I don't know how. I don't think I changed anything but it now loads the German Google page when using the Firefox search box.
