Thanks for drilling this down. It surprises me that the installation of jdownloader makes a difference -- or does the problem only occur when it is running? Either way, jdownloader is not an official Ubuntu package and because of this the Ubuntu project can not fix your particular bug. Please report this bug to the provider of the software package. No, it is not a dropbox issue. I created another user, reinstalled nautilus-dropbox, and the problem doesn't show up. There's something else. I had the exact same problem on my old laptop and I did not see the problem right after i installed ubuntu on the new laptop.
