Playing around with 12.04 final in live CD mode and it looks like I get hit by this too :( I'm seeing the lines shown in OP's screenshot (they're layered below the launcher thingy/focussed windows but above unfocussed windows here) and also graphics corruption in the transparent dash window (see attachment).
