[Bug 912456] Re: please migrate DNSMASQ customization to /etc/dnsmasq.d/ and stop hacking the default DNSMASQ configuration in postinst!

2012-01-05 Thread Andres Rodriguez
Hi Martin-Eric,

Thank you for taking the time to report bugs and trying to make Ubuntu
better.

Now, debian/ubuntu-orchestra-provisioning-server.postinst does NOT make
any customization to /etc/dnsmasq.conf. What it does is to make
customization to /etc/cobbler/dnsmasq.template.

However, cobbler is the one in charge of generating the DNSMASQ
configuration based on the template. This is an upstream feature. I,
however, believe that this approach of replacing the dnsmasq config file
might be the best in order to not have any conflicts with any previously
configured options.

Nonetheless, this will be subject of discussion given that you've raised
this concern. I'm marking this bug invalid as it belongs to cobbler, and
not orchestra.

Thank you again.

Cheers.

Right, in that case, it's cobbler that needs to be fixed to insert its
DNSMASQ content into /etc/dnsmasq.d/ rather than to hack the default
DNSMASQ config.
