[Bug 930509] Re: Please sync gcin 2.7.2+dfsg-1 from Debian Sid to Ubuntu (universe)
Hi, this is the most popular input method in Traditional Chinese community, far more popular than Ubuntu's default - ibus-chewing. Gcin was once removed from Debian because there wasn't anyone have enough time and knowledge to maintain it, and thus users rely on third- party repositories. I believe it's not a good thing to make such an important piece of software missing from an LTS release, so here I am requesting its inclusion to Precise once it gets into Sid. The software is actively maintained upstream, and has a new Debian maintainer, the package itself is also under the umbrella of IME Packaging Team, who can support it until the quality meets for a Debian stable release. I see no problem from accepting it before Feature Freeze, to make sure it doesn't miss an important LTS. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/930509 Title: Please sync gcin 2.7.2+dfsg-1 from Debian Sid to Ubuntu (universe) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcin/+bug/930509/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
