Public bug reported:

gmime 2.6, a library to parse MIME, has almost reached debian testing, it would
be nice to have this package in precise so upstreams can use it to develop
their software and ease backporting.
http://packages.qa.debian.org/g/gmime.html
It is the successor to gmime2.4

It is also a new package which can coexist with old one so will likely
not introduce any regressions nor is a transition needed.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
