I am sorry the problem is still present with your ppa. I also think that the linked report (bugzilla) is a different issue. I have taken a look at the screenshots and they look different in comparison to my problem. As it seems there are only textures flickering (missing). There is a flickering bug fixed by the mesa 8.0.3 release. Check the bug report and see if you think it may be the same issue: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44701 If it is (and perhaps even if it isn't), it may be worthwhile to test out the 8.0.3 release. I've set up a PPA with this release for testing: https://launchpad.net/~bryce/+archive/mesa-803 Install that PPA, reboot, and give a go at reproducing the flickering. Just for the record, lately I also have seen the problem with WorldOfGoo.
