[Bug 96663] Re: [nvidia-glx-legacy] glxinfo crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-05-06 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Ah, so it was that simple.. I guess people who have simply done an
upgrade see these crashes. Running restricted-manager (which, if I've
understood correctly, regenerates xorg.conf) should make things work
again?

[Bug 96663] Re: [nvidia-glx-legacy] glxinfo crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-05-03 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
Timo:
If people can use later drivers than legacy then they should because the driver
behaviour has changed. legacy will disable GLX when the COMPOSITE extension is
on (and COMPOSITE is enabled by default since Edgy). See Bug #91064 for details
on this. If people are seeing this and have an old card which can ONLY use the
legacy driver it would be interesting to see how they ended up in this
situation because if they enabled drivers via restricted-manager then this
particular problem should be worked around.

2007-05-02 Thread Timo Aaltonen
It doesn't matter if the card works with a newer driver or not.. Looking
at the Procmaps output of these dupes they all were using the legacy-
driver.

the Geforce 4 Ti does not need the legacy driver or am I wrong?

I thought the legacy driver is for TNT2 to Geforce 2 (without MX).
