I believe this may have been fixed as a side-effect of the DBusMenu - GMenu refactoring in indicator-datetime. I have Rainy River as well in the list and can't remove it. I am in EST (near Toronto) I am guessing that it's coming from some IP geolocation lookup. I have the same issue with Rainy River and New York showing up for me (Rainy River shows up at home and New York shows up at the office on the same laptop) on an upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04.
