[Bug 97023] Re: sound server problem with ubuntu feisty
Hi guys, As Ubuntu stopped supporting my video card I couldn't check any thing (working now on mandriva 2009). If ubuntu 8.10 will be out with the new kernel I'll wait for it's first beta and install it. -- sound server problem with ubuntu feisty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/97023 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for the udpate. Yotama9, since you are the original bug reporter can you comment if this is resolved for you. We'll keep this open against the actively developed kernel but against 2.6.20 this will be closed as it does not qualify for a stable release update - http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates . [Bug 97023] Re: sound server problem with ubuntu feisty
Leann, thanks for remembering! - In my own special case this seems to be fixed. I can not confirm the bug any more since Hardy Heron. It may have been gone on my Asus M2N (i810) with the above already mentioned bug ( https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux- source-2.6.20/+bug/83290 ). However - I can ofcourse not speak for others who had a similar problem... Sorry for reporting this so latley. There has been a lot of other things around in the meantime. [Bug 97023] Re: sound server problem with ubuntu feisty
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test: 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux- image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test. --or-- 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD. Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback. ** Tags added: cft-2.6.27 -- sound server problem with ubuntu feisty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/97023 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 97023] Re: sound server problem with ubuntu feisty
It unfortunately appears that this bug is not yet resolved. Does this issue still exist in the Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS release? If so, the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 is also scheduled for release today. It will appear at the following when available: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha2 . It contains the actively developed 2.6.26 Ubuntu kernel. It would be great if you could test this upcoming release via a LiveCD and verify if the issue still exists. If so, please include the appropriate debugging information as outlined at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems . Thanks in advance. ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- sound server problem with ubuntu feisty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/97023 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 97023] Re: sound server problem with ubuntu feisty
I have the same problem as above. The problem seems to be that the sound card is not recognized anymore. There is no sound but the system bell. I use a centrino laptop. The sound-card must be the i810 from Intel. I use Kubuntu since october 2005 and upgraded every new release. - This is the first new install I think. I've had various other difficulties with the install-CD from Kubuntu because linux didn't start after showing grub. I could manage it without acpi (acpi=off at the bootprompt) and only with the old debian- installer. This might be a different thing, but might also be related to the problem with the sound. I've had similar problems with the latest two Knoppix versions which seems to point at the linux-source. On the other hand I have had not problems with a now uptodate Mepis-Live-CD which builds upon Kubuntu.
