[Bug 97023] Re: sound server problem with ubuntu feisty

2008-09-01 Thread yotama9
Hi guys,

As Ubuntu stopped supporting my video card I couldn't check any thing
(working now on mandriva 2009). If ubuntu 8.10 will be out with the new
kernel I'll wait for it's first beta and install it.

Thanks for the udpate. Yotama9, since you are the original bug reporter
can you comment if this is resolved for you. We'll keep this open
against the actively developed kernel but against 2.6.20 this will be
closed as it does not qualify for a stable release update -
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates . Thanks.

2008-08-28 Thread sputnik
Leann,

thanks for remembering! - In my own special case this seems to be fixed.
I can not confirm the bug any more since Hardy Heron. It may have been
gone on my Asus M2N (i810) with the above already mentioned bug (
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-
source-2.6.20/+bug/83290 ). However - I can ofcourse not speak for
others who had a similar problem...

Sorry for reporting this so latley. There has been a lot of other things
around in the meantime.

Thanks for time and work!

[Bug 97023] Re: sound server problem with ubuntu feisty

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

[Bug 97023] Re: sound server problem with ubuntu feisty

2008-07-10 Thread mouz
It unfortunately appears that this bug is not yet resolved. Does this
issue still exist in the Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS release? If so, the
Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 is also scheduled for release today. It will
appear at the following when available:
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha2 . It contains the
actively developed 2.6.26 Ubuntu kernel. It would be great if you could
test this upcoming release via a LiveCD and verify if the issue still
exists. If so, please include the appropriate debugging information as
outlined at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems . Thanks in
advance.

[Bug 97023] Re: sound server problem with ubuntu feisty

2007-05-11 Thread sputnik
I have the same problem as above. The problem seems to be that the sound
card is not recognized anymore. There is no sound but the system bell.

I use a centrino laptop. The sound-card must be the i810 from Intel. I
use Kubuntu since october 2005 and upgraded every new release. - This is
the first new install I think.

I've had various other difficulties with the install-CD from Kubuntu
because linux didn't start after showing grub. I could manage it without
acpi (acpi=off at the bootprompt) and only with the old debian-
installer. This might be a different thing, but might also be related to
the problem with the sound.

I've had similar problems with the latest two Knoppix versions which
seems to point at the linux-source. On the other hand I have had not
problems with a now uptodate Mepis-Live-CD which builds upon Kubuntu.

2007-05-07 Thread yotama9
hello agian.

I just have replaced my hard drive and reinstalled ubuntu feisty on my
machine (the same disc I downloaded about two months ago).

after the installation has complete there whare no sound problems but I
updated the data and then, once again, I got the same error messege.

if there is any one handling this I belive this data would help.

also, I'll try and download a stable version of fesity and not a bata
version to check this out.
