I can confirm upstream comment #11. I attempted to apply c501ae7f332cdaf42e31af30b72b4b66cbbb1604 to the Precise kernel, but the drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915_gem.c file already has those changes, applied as commit 89df7051 . ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/983146 Title: [sandybridge-m-gt2+] GPU lockup render.IPEHR: 0xd208b6d0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/983146/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 983146] Re: [sandybridge-m-gt2+] GPU lockup render.IPEHR: 0xd208b6d0
@Jose Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.4kernel[1] (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the other tags). This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance. http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.4-rc3-precise/ ** Tags removed: kernel-key ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/983146 Title: [sandybridge-m-gt2+] GPU lockup render.IPEHR: 0xd208b6d0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/983146/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 983146] Re: [sandybridge-m-gt2+] GPU lockup render.IPEHR: 0xd208b6d0
@kernel team, upstream suggests this patch: I'm going to say commit c501ae7f332cdaf42e31af30b72b4b66cbbb1604 Author: Chris Wilson Date: Wed Dec 14 13:57:23 2011 +0100 drm/i915: Only clear the GPU domains upon a successful finish By clearing the GPU read domains before waiting upon the buffer, we run the risk of the wait being interrupted and the domains prematurely cleared. The next time we attempt to wait upon the buffer (after userspace handles the signal), we believe that the buffer is idle and so skip the wait. There are a number of bugs across all generations which show signs of an overly haste reuse of active buffers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/983146 Title: [sandybridge-m-gt2+] GPU lockup render.IPEHR: 0xd208b6d0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/983146/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
